Managing udhaar (customer credit) without the notebook

How to keep customer credit under control: credit limits, recording payments and reading the customer ledger.

1. Record credit at the time of sale

Attach the customer to the bill and choose credit (udhaar) for the unpaid part. The amount goes into that customer’s ledger automatically.

2. Set a credit limit

A limit per customer stops the counter from giving more credit than you are comfortable with. Only people you allow can see balances.

3. Record every payment

When the customer pays, record it against their account. Payments are recorded once even if the button is pressed twice.

4. Review the ledger, not your memory

The ledger shows every credit sale, return and payment in order with the running balance. Entries are never edited; mistakes are corrected with a new entry, so the history stays trustworthy.
